What it means
A scan reads what is already on the machine. It does not open apps, call AI services or ask for admin rights, which is why it is unprivileged and quiet.
If the device is offline, the results wait and are sent when it reconnects. An administrator can pause scanning for a set time.
Why it matters
Regular scans keep the inventory current without anyone filling in a survey.
